Sarah Morley
Sarah Morley is a contemporary artist who paints predominantly land and sea in oils in a unique semi-abstract style. She also draws expressively in charcoal. Her work is inspired by the sensual experience and emotional memory of the subject depicted.
Texture is very important in Sarah's work, whether evoked by her impasto, painterly oils, or by the variety of mark making seen in her drawings. Recently Sarah has also been exhibiting some of her portraiture, in particular in a co-created project with four other artists and researchers from the universities of Leeds and Manchester about recovery from facial cancer called 'I'm Still Me' which will be shown in Leeds in the autumn and touring thereafter.
Sarah studied Fine Art at The University of Newcastle Upon Tyne but later went on to a successful career as a lawyer. Fourteen years ago Sarah returned to her first love, painting and drawing and she has been a full time artist since then. She is based at her studio in Vernon Mill, Stockport, SK1 2HX where she also teaches painting and drawing.
