Margaret Veldman-Jones

Originally from the Netherlands, it was science that first brought Margaret to the UK. After completing a foundation degree in Art & Design she was fortunate enough to be able to combine science with practising art from her home studio.

Although her work is mainly representational, Margaret continuously aims to push the boundaries between abstract and realism, trying not to let the work reveal itself in one glance. Colour, texture, print and pattern are invaluable to create interest and are often incorporated through collage materials with acrylic paint as her medium of choice.

It is her work that supports (endangered) wildlife that gives her great drive and satisfaction. As a result Margaret became an art ambassador for the rhino charity ‘Helping Rhinos’ selling work at the ‘Room to Roam’ auction at the Geographical Society in London and featuring on their 2023 calendar. She has also been a finalist for four years running in the Sketch for Survival exhibition at the prestigious OXO gallery in London and Edinburgh.

Aside from her wildlife paintings, Margaret also loves creating portraits of people she admires and finds interesting. She does not restrict herself to any subject or style and merely keeps following the thread of her artistic journey.
